FAQs

Is everything confidential?

Absolutely! I follow the code of ethics as laid down by The National Counselling Society that states; all information discussed in the therapy room remains confidential, all notes are kept under lock and key and will be securely destroyed after five years. The only instances where any client's information would be disclosed is in a court of law, to protect a client's physical wellbeing or the physical wellbeing of another.

How long is a session and how often will I need to attend?

Each therapy session lasts for one hour. Sessions can be booked weekly, fortnightly or more frequently if needed.

Do I need to commit to a certain number of sessions?

Therapy is open ended in most cases. This means that the number of sessions will depend on the progress made and benefit to prolonging the process.

Can I change or cancel my appointment?

Yes you can change or cancel your appointment without any charge as long as you provide me with 24 hours notice. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will be subject to full payment unless there are exceptional circumstances.

What does the counselling process involve?

To make an appointment just drop me a text or call me. If you need to leave a voicemail I'll get back to you as soon as I can. When we meet for the first time at my therapy room, our initial session will cover any necessary paperwork and give us both a chance to get to know one another and explore how we might work together towards achieving your goals.

Is there anything I can't talk about?

Trust me, after many years of counselling there is very little I have not heard before! While you may feel awkward discussing issues of a very personal nature, you are alwys assured of my respect. My clients tell me they feel very much at ease during our sessions and I hope the same will be true for you.

What happens when the sessions end?

Understandably, ending reguar contact can sometimes be difficult, especially after building a safe and warm relationship. But as it becomes apparent you are reaching your therapeutic goal, we begin the process of solidifying the work we have done so you can look forwards to a happier and more fulfilled existence. Of course, should you at any time feel the need to return to therapy, my door will always be open.
